Independent Dealr Reccomendation in Bedford/MK area?

Afternoon All, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good independent garage in the Bedford/MK area (specifically Cranfield, as that is where I work) that can scan and make sense of the computer. I have the old toxic fumes and service light on my Megane and need to get it looked at before I try to sel...

The switch often plays up - try waggling it from side to side. When you deadlock the car the roof should close. Renault Build A Better Car :D Yeah, I've given it plenty of wiggle, but there's no life in there as far as I can tell. I keep hoping one day it'll decide to come back to life, as things t...

Service and Toxic fumes lights, and sunroofs

Morning All, Driving home last night, and the SERVICE and engine light (toxic fumes light, I think they call it) both came on. It was serviced 2,000 miles ago so it doesn't need a service. I did have the display changed over last year meaning that the mileage is no longer in synch with the servicing...

Well, turns out there's nothing wrong at all. On the way home last night, the light was off, and stayed of this morning on the way to the dealer. Thought I'd better get it checked out anyway - they couldn't read any fault codes from the computer apart from "a few very old ones", so they have reset t...

I had the same lights come on Monday so i took it into Renault in Plymouth and it cost me £700 to put right (camshaft sensor, new cambelt, dephaser) and some other things. I wish that was the end of it, after paying the bill i drove the car straight home. Friday morning went to go out and foun...

Toxic Fumes Light but Engine running OK

Morning All, Last night on the way home, I got the toxic fumes warning light along with the service light (service not due for 3K). I have had this before and the ignition coils had gone, but that time the engine was running really badly. This time, its running fine. All the way home last night and ...

Exactly the problem I had, although I'm nearer my 36K service. As you say, the manual is not exactly helpful - reducing speed indeed! It also didn't say how serious the situation was - if its going to cause damage to keep driving it then why doesn't the manual say so?? I wonder how many people have ...

Thanks Jimbo. I'll look them up on the map and see if its feasible to get there on the way to work. Got to be worth a go - Camden are appalling. I have never seen such a bunch of unprofessional staff in all my life. They just hang around reception in groups gossiping like old women.

Thanks for all your help, chaps. Camden replaced all 4 ignition coils on Friday afternoon and all is now well. They even washed it as well, which saved me a job over the weekend! Jimbo, thanks for your hint about the Bedford place. I work in Cranfield, not too far from Bedford, so that might actuall...

Thanks guys. I took it to the dealer this morning and left it with them (which always makes me nervous when its booked in, never mind when I just turn up out of the blue!). Looks like they've had another turn over of staff at Camden Northampton, the reception girls all look about 14. Then again, I d...

Cheers Ray,

I'll keep it off the road tomorrow and see what the dealers say. If they mess around, might give the AA a call.

Given that I'm now at home, will the AA come out - and is that only a last resort? Am right in thinking I shouldn't drive it to work etc until it gets sorted?

Toxic Fumes Warning Light

Evening All, On the way home tonight, the toxic fumes warning light on my Megane started flashing. It continued doing so on and off during my 40 min journey and was accompanied by the engine running very rough and a distinct lack of power. The manual is not very helpful, and suggests I go to the dea...
