If I had the original code how would I get the HU to allow me to enter it? At the moment the HU doesn't even acknowledge that the CD Changer exists. What happens if the HU dies under warranty? What do Renault do to the CD changer to get the new HU to recognise it?

The only way I could fit a bike rack on my CC was to fit a towbar first then get a Thule 970 Xpress that clamps to the tow ball. Only supports 2 bikes though but pretty secure so far. Bought both off eBay.

Theres a thread called Radio code calculator for radios marked "update list". I've tried it with mine and it gives the correct code.
