Re: Noise at idle (increases with revs)

Just realised something - fuel degrades with time. 12 months is long enough for the diesel to have separated or become contaminated with water - and this is drawn up first from the tank. You could try either draining the tank, or running the car on propane (from a plumber's torch - unlit) via a vac...

Re: Noise at idle (increases with revs)

Where are you based?! I like a challenge... Belts are at the left hand side of the engine as you look at it with the bonnet up - the driver's side. You might have to remove the wheel and the wheel are cover to inspect them. Don't give up - It's probably something and nothing (<£100 if you do it you...

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...

Is it also known as the auxillary belt... or is this something completely different? :?

How easy is this to remove/inspect or is it possible while still on the car? I have air con so not sure if that makes it a different setup?

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...

Thanks for your reply... Where is the accessory belt? Has it another name, just I'm unsure of its location... I would be willing to give this a go to see if there's an improvement. I just don't really want to throw any more money at it unless its totally necessary! Have you any ideas if the gears wi...

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...

Strange in what sense? Should the turbo not make this sound when idle? If it was something partially siezed like the alternator bearing, is this fixable or would it require replacement? Yes I cleaned the intercooler, all pipe work, inlet manifold, egr valve, oil separator bottle, new gaskets, oil fi...

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...

My initial thought was it was maybe the fuel pump. I thought this as it when it starts, it cuts out after 2seconds but then it sometimes starts an stays running (I could be way off there but was just a thought). When you say the state of the transmission fluid/running gear, what exactly do you mean?...

Noise at idle (increases with revs)

Hi, I have a problem which is really bugging me now and hoping someone can help? I have just replaced my turbo after runaway engine (which i managed to save)... Now i have a whining noise at idle, which increases with revs. The car has been sitting in the garage for about a year. I noticed that the ...

Re: Fuse box under bonnet

The 5 fuses you can see will be the normal size ones..... there is loads of other mini fuses. Once you remove the fusebox cover there will be a bunch of wires, just lift these out of the way and all fuses should be visible. Also on the underside of the fusebox cover there should be a diagram of fuse...

Re: Heating & AC won't go below 15 degrees!

The display for climate control will go no further down than 15 degrees...... but if you stick your air con on you should feel a drop in temperature. Is this the case or not? Because if not, your air con might need fixing.

Give it a test and let me know the results

New powerfold mirror problem

I've just purchased a new powerfold mirror and when fitted encountered a strange problem.... When I turn the dial to fold in, the new one folds out and vice versa. The company replaced the mirror straight away but the new 1 is exactly the same. Do ya think this is a faulty batch or is my wiring wron...

Re: 16mm or 18mm?

Nightmare mate!! Bet your sick..... So have you not changed the lower arms, just the ball joints? Ive just had mine done, ended up changing the full arms for an extra £20 per side (to save all the hassle of taking out and pressing new ball joints in). I went for 18mm and everything is spot on (i thi...

Re: 16mm or 18mm?

Any ideas where the clunk is coming from, can you pinpoint it?

Also what arms were fitted (does it state on your reciept?)

Just out of curiosity, how long was your car in the garage and did they report any problems fitting them?
