Easy ODB is quite good but basic but does give you some readings and can reset the fault codes. Digimoto 5 is quite good but its not freeware.
....I've just took my EGR valve out and it was absolutely caked in black soot so i got the carb cleaner out. Gonna see if that makes a difference.

Re: Revs Increase After Foot Is Off The Pedal!?
Cheers AlexB, I'll get my reader out to see if any codes are there. It only does for a minute at the start. If I leave it to tick over for a minute as soon as I drive off it is fine. Edit.... Just checked for fault codes and none are stored. This only happens when left overnight, it doesn't happen w...

Re: Revs Increase After Foot Is Off The Pedal!?
Interesting.. My 1.5 dci does the same thing if I dont let it idle for a minute after starting, but seems ok in warm weather. I thought it might be something do do with auto choke or along those line. Hopefully someone can shed a little light?? Edit.... Upon a little searching if it's a diesel like ...

They will tell you the correct oil for your car but I believe it is 5/30w but check on the site and match it to your car.

Re: diesel 1.5 on 1st startup ticks loud, ok when warm?
My 53 plate 1.5dci (50000 miles) certainly is more noisy when first ticking over, especially on a very cold morning. I don't think it's anything to worry about. I've had mine for just over 2 years and it's always been like it and I use mobil oil. My wife has a 58 plate peugeot 207 1.4 dci (20000 mil...

Re: Strut top mount bearing replaced now creaking??
A quick update.... I replaced the bearing today with a genuine renault one and now all is perfect. The one I removed it has been greased but has no smooth movement like with the genuine bearing.
Maybe it needs a little more grease but all is well with my meggy again!

Strut top mount bearing replaced now creaking??
I replaced my drivers side top strut mount bearing a few days ago cause it was clicking. Now I've noticed the spring is creaking when I turn during parking or at very low speeds. I got the bearing off ebay (£28.99 for the kit). Is it creaking because it is a non renault genuine part also will it cau...

Re: Removing circuit board from window regulator?
Thanks for the advise Mike, I had a go at this yesterday with the junior hacksaw and then desoldered the 2 pins that connect it to the motor. I see what you mean though, no corrosion anywhere although, when I was resoldering the main plug pins I could hear sizzling of water or maybe condensation bur...

Re: OSR Door - Cannot open from inside
I had the same problem with my 2004 1.5dci. The NSL would not open from the inside but fine from the outside. I replaced the locking mechanism on the door itself and that cured the problem, it worked inside & out. It was strange though cause nothing looked untowards. The door has been fine for 1...

Removing circuit board from window regulator?

Re: Alternator 1.5dci
Might not be the bearing, might be the pulley rubbing against the housing. I had the same problem with my 1.5dci 80 (2004). I removed the aux belt, unbolted the alternator (bit fiddly to get your hands in), then lifted it up through the bonnet. It is a bit tight to get it out but it will come out of...

Re: How to turn the service and oil change light off? After
press the right hand stalk until it get to the service message on the display, then press and hold the mileage reset button and the display will start flashing after about 10 seconds. Then the service display will read 18000 and no service light. Thats how its done on my 2004 1.5dci.

Re: Mot advisory - slight play in steering rack?
Just want to say thanks to everyone who gave advise on this thread. I decided to give it a go today and it wasnt as bad as I thought. I managed to get some stilsons onto the dome section of the rod and use a bit of scaffold bar as a pry bar and both sides came off real easy. I did notice there was n...

Re: diagnostic tool
Hi Steven. I have an ELM327 usb interface which I use on my 2004 1.5dci. I purchased it off ebay and it came with some free software. easy ODB I think it's called. This reads all my fault codes (when I get them) and also clears them. Other software such as Digimoto 5 can monitor various items on you...

Re: Mot advisory - slight play in steering rack?
Mine's done 48000 miles. Not sure of it's history as bought from a dealer 18 months ago, but I have a feeling it has been on rough ground. Since owning it I have replaced both front suspension springs, all 4 bearings and a heap of other stuff. Maybe it's just that the original Renault axial rods are...
