PROBLEMS WITH IMV - AND A SOLUTION
2003 1.5dci 114k miles. Recently an old problem returned under acceleration - level 1 warning and ordered to stop. Seen it all before - low fuel rail pressure. I ignored it and eased up on the accelerator and the warning disappeared. A quick test with clip using a spare IMV showed FRP was well down ...

Re: OBD2 scanners/readers
I am on my third can-clip.It is impossible to run an old Renault without. They fail after a year when the warranty is up or so it seems. I have tried both types and they both failed. The last one I bought is working OK but I note from ebay that the seller has been withdrawn so I won't even have a ye...

Re: Say wha? Long term quacking noise. Sounds like I've smuggled a duck
I watched your video clip. Pity you did not rev the engine slightly to give an idea of increased frequency in relation to engine revs but sounded to me like an aux belt problem. Is your Meg diesel or petrol?

Re: **Injector Fault**
Steve, I would like to know exactly what the fault code was foryour injector3? Most injector fault codes are to do with "control" - ie short circuit, open circuit. control at maximum, control at minimum. The CLIP code for injector 3 is DF028. As I said before, CLIP does not give P codes. W...

Re: **Injector Fault**
Steve, forget about carrying out leak-off tests. Before anything else you need to get a diagnosis of your fault code. Without that you are fumbling around in the dark. Your car will never run correctly until the code has been deleted even if by chance you replace the faulty injector. After identific...

Re: Pressure sensor
The aircon is controlled by the ECU and the three wires from the gas pressure sensor (item 1202) go straight to one of the ECU plugs. I'm afraid there are no fuses or relays involved. Don't tell me, you have had the system regassed and it still does not work so you are trying to check the sensor by ...

Problems with can-clip hardware
No matter how experienced one is as a mechanic, it is impossible to run an old Meg2 without can-clip. It has enabled me to keep this old beast running through every manner of fault code for the last 3 years or more. (mine is an early 1.5 dci not OBD compliant so other systems will not work with it.)...

Re: Check injection light on dash board
How many miles has your 03 done? Mine got to 100k when it began to play up. I discovered that the rollers in the Delphi fuel pump were worn almost flat on both sides resulting in low fuel rail pressure and swarf was blocking the injectors. It is problems like this that result in so many Meganes endi...

Alternator replacement - easy method -??
Hopefully this will help another owner. 1.5dci 2003 112k miles (10 years in my possession!) Have you changed your alternator? According to senor Manuel Haynes, it is not easy especially if you have a petrol car. The brief beeping with the battery light flashing, was a portent of doom and soon a mete...

Re: The dreaded STOP light and alarm issue
Here are two suggestions - there could be many more. 1) the brake pedal switch does play up. It has been covered here several times. The switch is double acting - activates the stop lights and tells the DCU you are braking. Can be removed, dismantled and cleaned. Makes the car hold back briefly but ...

Intermittent screen wiper facility not working - the likely reason.
Hopefully this will help somebody else. 2003 1.5 dci but will be the same for all models of this era (don't know about later models). Wipers work perfectly at slow speed, high speed and single wipe but do not work using the intermittent facility. I found this to be caused by a problem with the UCP (...

Re: Excessive side-to-side play in gear lever. 5 speed box
I hope this post will help somebody somewhere sometime. I changed the gear unit OK, unbolted exhaust from cat, came down a little way, unscrewed the heatshield and was able to bend it down just enough to squeeze the gear linkage unit out, unscrewed the top, swapped the gear cables over. I used the e...

Gear knob removal, 5 speed box, old Mike's method!
Yes this problem has raised its head before. We know that the gear knobs are pushed on and are a tight fit. My attempts to remove mine this week proved too much for my ancient muscles. It would not budge. Solution, two tyre levers, one each side of the knob, end of tyre levers resting on two bricks ...

Hello Dan, before I try to answer your query I would like to know that you are still viewing your post, Many times I have responded to questions only for the poster never to reply again. This is a bit annoying and a waste of time. This is common with first-time posters. Thanks
