Could it not be something as simple as a Fuse in the engine bay? Seems odd the aircon and the heater go at the same time.

Its a product called Scratch Doctor and can be found on Ebay.

One of the sensors in the engine bay probably needs cleaning. I can't remember what its called right now (havn't slept in three days lol) but its on the top side of the engine.

Well the only time my fuse went was when I plugged stuff in as the engine was running but this is common in terms of failures. I can't remember 100% which fuse it is but it affects the radio (radio switches off after 20 minutes as one of its supplies is missing, as if the engine was off) and the air...

Glad your OK. Nevermind a motorcyclist, anyone in a smaller vehicle would of been well and truelly mullered. Hope the damage isn't too bad and the insurance company get your vehicle back to you ASAP.

Surely the 1.4 is the best engine for this situation?

The roof has does suffer from water ingress on some models and there were some trim issues. The latest CCs don't have the issue with the 1.6VVT engine but it does feel under powered for this car but the Astra also suffers from this problem.

Could be water ingress into Fuses or ECU etc. Lots of water ingress issues at this time of year. You might wanna locate these units and check for signs of water.

If that fuse has gone you with have lost air con (you won't notice that in this weather) and your accessory socket. Infact one of the other fuses may affect it aswell. hmmmmmmmm

Yeah my old Meganes would groan, particuarly during decent braking. I was wondering if something was wearing out (brake pads were fine when checked) but as the car was written off I will never know.

You might actually need to put a window through to get out of this one unless you want to pay for a recovery vehicle to move your car two or three feet. I can't honestly think of another way to get into it.

I highly doubt greasing will help. Do you hear the sunroof even attempt to move on days its refusing to open?

Autoexpress are trying to blow this up into a huge issue but it affects more than one car manufacture. Research needs to be done into why this happening, wonder if its all the same glass manufacture?
