Re: engine cutting out after started from cold

may be a coincidence but my 1.6vvt had the same problem until I changed the engine oil for a "good" quality one.
whether doing this some how replenished the seals in the dephaser I don't know but that has over two months now with no starting issues.

Re: Brakes

The local garage wanted £250 to replace one rear pipe and the front!
I only replaced the osr pipe as it would probably need doing soon anyway :D

Brakes

2004 1.6vvt Car failed MOT on rusty brake pipes. Both rear pipes to rear calipers and front offside from abs to front flexi. The rear pipes were bought from Renault for £24 each and I had to make up the front pipe (easy with the correct tools). Also a good chance to drain all the brake fluid and rep...

Re: EGR Valve Replacement 1.9 dci (130)

you will need the whole assembly if it is the solenoid part of the egr valve which is faulty ie an electronic fault,if it is just cocked up then a good clean up will suffice. I hope it is the latter as I had to replace the whole assembly on my scenic and it then had to be programmed to the ecu at Re...

Re: throttle problem

cheers, that was the only thing left to check.
Is there any way of checking the sensor on the pedal or is it a case of replacing the whole throttle pedal assembly?

Re: throttle problem

cheers John, the dephaser was replaced a couple of years ago which I thought ruled that out, however the engine sometimes doesn't start first time.
have changed plugs, camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor, maybe the coils need replacing.
Hopefully the dephaser doesn't need doing again!

throttle problem

Megane 2004 1.6vvt I have a problem with the throttle, when changing gear mostly from 1st to 2nd the throttle has a mind of it's own and can rev itself up to 3500rpm! also when idling the revs can stick around 1100rpm for around 20 seconds before dropping back to normal idle speed 800rpm. The throttl...

Re: Replaced the steering tie rods

Good job, there is no need to buy the inner track rod removal tool, when I replaced mine I used a pair of vise grips and a light tap from a small plastic hammer.
As you mentioned using threadlock on the new parts and remembering to replace the plastic washer.

Re: cold start problems

starting problem sorted,it was the MAP sensor. Should have been a five minute job but the original sensor broke upon removal and left part of it inside the inlet manifold. So off came the manifold and the part fell out! result Everything went back together in about half an hour and the car runs much ...

Re: cold start problems

Cheers Dan311,the are no engine management lights on and nothing shows up on my fault reader, had thought about temperature sensors playing up as i had a similar problem with my vw bora tdi. Re: megane timing belt and dephaser

having had the dephaser and timing belt replaced by a garage i recommend going down this route as the dephaser has to be set up correctly before it is put on the engine also i'm sure the timing belt has to be correctly tensioned used a sonic device, too many things to go wrong and expensive repair co...
