Re: Front speakers: water shield (depth limit) removal [HOW
too much messing about for my lazy self! Haha I totally agree with you! I had a lot of time to waste when I did it! :-) Thanks to all for your comments. Btw the speakers are still performing great, I guess the key (even for those who might want to have it done professionally) is the alu tape+silico...

Re: what speakers are better?
Well for rear door I think you have room for any regular (non "slim") speaker of any Brand. If you don't use any amp - e.g. you drive them with the head unit - I would look for the highest possible efficiency (db/W) so they'll be louder at the same "knob" volume If instead you us...

Re: dashboard powering during start-up
So basically you suggest kind of double, parallel feed... the usual "unsuitable" cigarette 12 V AND the solenoid live. When one is off, the other is on (e.g. during startup) and viceversa, with the diodes preventing a short between the two. Clever! I'll suggest it to my LPG mechanic...

Re: dashboard powering during start-up
Hi and thanks for your interest! I apologize for the very, very late reply  I carefully measured voltage with a multimeter, and unluckily the cigarette lighter (both the "hot" lead and the illumination one) completely shuts off (0 volts) during engine crank-up. Therefore it is not su...

dashboard powering during start-up
Hi to all, I posted here because it concerns power lines around the dashboard, but if you think the more appropriate section is another (Ownership Problems etc.), please move the thread and/or change its title! Foreword: I have a LandiRenzo Omegas LPG fuel system installed. This (but surely other br...

Re: Privilege Interior Door Handles
Sorry to revive an old topic but it concerns exactly my problem I'm out of warranty, I don't want to buy a brand new handle and I cannot find a used one at junkyards etc. (I cannot find scrap Meganes at all, actually :-() The leather/tennis wrap is a clever solution! but I'd like something less pers...

glovebox handle repair [HOW TO]
Hi everyone, my 2003 Meggie's falling apart :( After dephaser (had to renew the whole distribution, only waterpump covered by warranty, total bill: £480), steering box (100% under warranty) and rear shocks (£200), at the moment I have a failed rotary wire in the steering wheel, melted/sticky front d...

Re: Front door speaker: water shield removal [HOW TO]
See the edited above post.
I wrote "tutorial" comments and linked all the pictures, for the braves (fools?) who want to d.i.y. and really don't dig the custom Pioneers.

Re: mounting depth
Regarding rears: I don't know. In my 5 door I found no particular limits and used old, lovely (for me) 1303 Pioneers which I spared from my previous cars. Regarding fronts: it's not only a matter of depth, because the shield is profiled and "narrow" at its center, made for magnets smaller ...

Re: Front door speaker: water shield ablation
YEAH I did it! :D I never heard the custom Pioneers but the ones I used (Hertz, 60W RMS, +-2 mm Xmax capable) sound personally nothing short of outstanding ... especially considering I drive the speakers unamplified, just via the 4x50W (25W RMS) of my Clarion h.u.. I don't even need to boost the bas...

Re: Crackling Speakers
IMHO when crackling is heard, some connection is loose and loosing contact OR somewhere the "hot" wire is intermittenly shorting to ground; maybe there's damaged sheath somewhere along the wire. Even if the connections seem fine, In your place I would inspect thoroughly the wires - especia...

Re: Front door speaker: water shield ablation
it works really well, and no speaker vibration :-) Great! Any pictures available? (without dismantling everything of course  ) No I still didn't proceed for lack of time, but I'm determined to do it (and then report here). Although I admit it would not be for everyone, since for only a few buc...

Re: Front door speaker: water shield ablation
Thank you very much for clarification!
Of course I'll post a report of it (or even try to make a tutorial) if I'm succeeding.

Re: Front door speaker water shield ablation
First of all thank you for the prompt replies! :tu Clever opinions which I respect, but I already thought about it and developed an idea. • First, a few days ago I removed and put back on the front speakers, and found both the connector dripping wet (never had water leaks inside, to be honest), and ...

Front speakers: water shield (depth limit) removal [HOW TO]
EDIT: find down below long post with linked pictures. Hi to everyone, first post here! :-) The title says it all, I want to cut away the semi-lunar water shields behind the front door speakers, with the purpose of fitting standard size, easier to find units. I'm talking about the ones detailed in t...
