Yes! Sorry, schoolboy maths error...
I'm glad you see what I mean. I like your theory, it does make sense, on the centrifugal thing. I'm going to note a couple of mph readings at various rpm and report back. Not the most exciting thread ever, but it's got me curious...

Gears Vs Revs Vs Speed?
A bit random this, but as I was driving along the other day I was confused by this realisation: I would have thought that if you drive along in 5th gear, at say 2000 revs and it shows 40 mph on the speedo, that if you increase revs by 50% and stay in the same gear, then your speed would go up 50% (i...

Re: Removing central dash?
I've started experimenting - I have a spare central dash and I sprayed that silver, after cleaning it thoroughly and roughing it up with a dry washing up sponge, as I've read elsewhere. Gave it 4 coats of Plasti-Kote silver, all looking good, then sprayed with Plasti-Kote's clear laquer and it gunke...

Re: Going EVERYWHERE at 2000RPM or less (53mph)
My 1.5dci is primarily used on A and B roads for the 60 mile commute - same commute for the last 8 years (yawn) so I've tried different driving styles to see how it affects the fuel consumption (anything to relieve the boredom). Bizarrely, I get similar fuel consumption at 70mph as I do at 50 (about...

Re: Adding interior door lights?
Thanks guys. Ulrich100, I'll have a search for your thread - that looks smart on the door handles. When I can see what lies behind the door card, I might even come up with some ideas of my own. Locating the lights is probably the easy bit for me - what I need most help with is how to tap into the wi...

Adding interior door lights?
Okay, a while ago I read in a thread that I can't find any more, that even bog standard early Meganes were fitted with the same wiring as the top of the range items (does this ring any bells) and whilst searching ebay for a set of LEDs to brighten up the interior I realised that my 5 door '05 plate ...

Re: Dash blank!!
This happened on my wife's 05 scenic earlier this year (looking for answers / other people's experiences is what brought this forum to my attention, in fact, so every cloud, etc.!). As per best advice that I found on the web, I contacted Renault's customer service line (got the number from their sit...

Re: silver grab handles
What about taking them off and painting them or even covering them with carbon fibre - I've seen pics of both done and they look pretty smart. Not sure if painting works if the rubber has started to come off the grab handles, I'd be interested to know if this works as my driver door grab handle is s...

Soundproofing?
While thinking about upgrading the standard audio in my 5 door, I started looking around at soundproofing info, which there seems to be a lot of from various specialists and at least one (Sound Killer UK) sells kits specifically for various makes of cars (not just in the cabin, but for the boot, und...

Re: sub connected to standard radio
I think it explains on another thread that some amps (or subs with integrated amp) can take speaker level input but that the sound is not that great. You would most likely disconnect the rear door speakers and use that feed redirected to the sub. I'd be interested to hear what it's like and compare ...

Removing central dash?
Hi - Re: the dash part that holds everything from the key card slot up to the air con controls, apart from removing the 2 screws at the bottom, does anybody know how to unclip the rest... I can't work it out? Cheers!

Re: megane 03 wont start unless bump starteed
My '05 Megane had the same symptoms after the first month or so, which turned out to be an earthing problem. It could jump start but the ignition wouldn't allow you to just start it as normal. Dunno if that's a common fault?

Hi everybody.
I bought a 5 door 1.5dci and a 1.9dci Gran Scenic in April '05 - taking care of my commuting needs and transporting the wife and kids, respectively. I've got to admit, I like the shape of both, they still look smart four and a half years on. Just as well since I can't afford to change them! The hatc...
