DCi 106 2 year report and goodbye

Well the Megane has gone after 2 years and 23,000 miles, actually a year earlier than planned because a bigger car is needed. Overall the meggie has been an excellent car, the 1.5DCi 106 is an amazing blend of performance, economy, refinement and low tax that was ahead of the other manufacturers at ...

Re: Dynamique 1.5 DCI (106)

I would seriously suspect that your friend's engine has something wrong with it. I ran a Scenic (which is heavier than the Megane) for a year with the 80hp dci and whilst no ball of fire it was perfectly acceptable. It's generally accepted both in the motoring press and on review sites etc that the ...

Re: Dynamique 1.5 DCI (106)

When I was in the showroom buying the clio I was advised against the 1.5dci, they recommend the 1.2 16v engine for the clio as they said the dci lacked power. If the 1.5dci lacked power in a clio, I didn't even consider it with the Megane. You have been mislead, I think the dealer must have needed ...

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption

The 1.4 seems to return poor figures in real world driving, I think because the Megane is a heavy car and the 1.4 is low on torque and so has to be worked quite hard.

Re: Joined the megane experience

My Megane is a 56 plate which I have had from new, 17k on it now and it's been reliable. The only fault needing an urgent trip to the dealer was a failed passenger electic window (failed in open position!) and there have been a couple of minor recalls. Overall very pleased, I think the car is a very...

Re: boot size a.s.a.p please

tbh the Megane boot is a real pain for pushchairs/buggies especially if you have other things in the boot at the same time as you usually have to put then in at an angle and then straightem them up once inside the (stupidly shaped) apeture. Lets face it the Megane 'bum' looks unique but makes for a ...

Winter temps, winter diesel and a new tight engine will be the reason.
Let's face it though 50mpg is still amazing for such a capable car.
Took mine for a run to the coast this weekend, 100 mile round trip on mixed roads - 68mpg.

The standard unit is pretty good, there is a good range of adjustment available with the bass, treble and loudness controls so it's easy to get the sort of sound you want.

I got 3 quotes from different renault dealers for my 1st service, cheapest was £157, most expensive £230, so it pays to shop around.

If I floor mine at 2000rpm in 2nd it pulls strongly with no lag so I would say your car has some sort of issue.

Any of the diesels will be an hugely improved driving experience over the 1.4 petrol. I drove a 1.5 80hp diesel Scenic for a year and is was surprisingly ok, so the 1.5 106hp will be fine.
