Re: Megane Fuse Boxes for Washer Pump

The way cars are designed these days ensures there will be few Denziels in future. Sealed bonnets can't be far off. Obviously there is a good business case for manufacturers wanting to keep repairs and maintenance within their dealer networks so I guess there is not much point complaining too much a...

Re: Megane Fuse Boxes for Washer Pump

Good stuff! It's hard to tell whether some of these garages are crooks or just incompetent. I'd like to think a good garage mechanic would pop in a fuse and send you on your way or at least tell you what to do. Sadly those days seem to be over and we end up compensating dealers for their reduced pro...

Re: Water in storage box in drivers footwell

The well below the windscreen (where the wiper motor is located) sometimes fills with water as the drain holes get blocked up with leaves and debris. Elsewhere you will read that someone had this problem which revealed itself to devastating effect when he parked on a tilt with the driver side higher...

Re: Update List and CD Changer

An excellent result; better than you'd hoped and a big difference from what they were telling you originally. It proves that it doesn't pay to get too far away from "Can I have a . . . . . for a . . . . . ." when trying to get parts. Doing it yourself would have been a pain well worth £35 ...

Re: Update List and CD Changer

£65 is a good quote to get a dealer engineer to do anything! I had to read your post twice. If you get the loom and they fit your unit, you will have had a good result. Make sure you have the units security code and that of your original head unit as this is a potential sticking point.

Good Luck

Re: Update List and CD Changer

While there may be several head units and versions of head units, they don't all look the same and I doubt it would be as difficult to identify yours as they are making out. You mentioning CD Changers has fried their brain as this "does not compute". Even so, I am absolutely certain there ...

I must learn to type faster. I started my 'answer' before your resolution popped up, I promise.

Re: boot won't open

Can you hear the motor in the tailgate trying to operate the lock? If so, there is a white plastic slot on the inside surface (ie underside when the lid is raised) of the lock which should move freely through an arc of about 1cm. (Incidentally it is this slot, accessible from inside the closed boot,...

Re: Anyone breaking a high spec Mégane?

I'm saying the current code will be that of your current head unit. What happens when you connect it to a different head unit is anyone's guess. I believe that when new and uncoded, the CD changer adopts the code of the first head unit it sees. So it might retain its present code, if you know it, wh...

Re: Anyone breaking a high spec Mégane?

I cannot think why you'd want the Carminat Turn by Turn Sat Nav. It is hopelessly slow to program and to respond and the instructions are illogical, often late and bordering on dangerous ("Take the third exit on the left at the roundabout" actually means take the third exit at the roundabo...

Auto Transmission problem

The automatic transmission on a 1.6 Privilege keeps going into what is presumably a 'get you home' mode where it stays in what seems to be second gear accompanied by the message "Check Gearbox". It has done this once or twice in town but now that my goddaughter has a weekly commute between...

But have you stopped the water? Is the cover missing to the bulb access in the front n/s wheel arch, for example?

Re: MOT and service..... Is this a good price???

I don't think that's expensive (albeit I am in London). The question is A) does it all really need to be done and B) will they really have done it. Like I said, I am in London and therefore possibly more cynical than most.

Try registering here:

They email your needs to several specialists and breakers and will email you with any quotes. I have successfully used the service four times including for a door mirror. Just Renaults, one of the respondents, were especially efficient.

Re: Radio Issues

I've no idea about your specific problem but the two things I would try before letting anyone loose on it would be to remove the power from the radio for 5 minutes or so by removing its fuses (there's more than one associated with the radio) or disconnecting the battery or else another might be to t...
