Re: Is The Clutch Going? Only Done 30K miles

The car finally gave up yesterday, burning smell and very strong odour of fuel/oil. But it wasn't the clutch that went. It turns out that it was a fuel leak resulting in diesel pouring out of the car down the front of the engine block. Guy in garage knew what it was without even looking it "1.5...

Re: Is The Clutch Going? Only Done 30K miles

Hi folks thought I'd give an update. The car is going to a different dealer next week as I'm not happy with my current dealer see other post. Anyways it looks like a new clutch for me, which after 35K is very surprising. What should i expect to pay and more importantly is there anyway that I can get...

Is The Clutch Going? Only Done 30K miles

Folks, My 3 Door Meg has just done over 30,000 miles but it seems to be showing signs of a slipping clutch. When accelerating in top gear the revs climb but the car doesn't pick up as it should. The revs go up quickly to about 3,000 revs, then jump back, with a clunk to 2,000 revs(as if the clutch h...

Re: Bulb replacement

Kinda on the same subject. I've just replaced my dipped headlight bulbs, and they seem to be duller than the original ones. I replaced them with Philips Vision bulbs which I thought would be brighter than the OEM ones. I know that the original bulbs where philips as well. Is it just a case that I ne...

The road tax is £35 for the 106bhp 1.5D 3dr regardless of the options, so you can get the sunroof with the 3dr, and not pay any extra.
The road tax for the 5dr is £35, without the sunroof, and £115 with the sunroof.
As for mpg get between 50 -55 mpg, running 80 miles a day.

Hi there, we have two of the 106 meganes, a 3 and a 5 door. Both have been really reliable. 3dr done 28K trouble free the 5dr 20K all fine.Be carefull with the road tax as the 5dr goes up to £110 a year if you put options on especially the sunroof. You can put all the options you like on the 3dr the...

Recall - Megane Air Conditioning Fault

Just to let you know that we received a Recall letter for both of our 2006 Registered Meganes (face lift model). It states that they want it booked in to be checked over due to the fact that the air con compressor gets blocked and subsequently causes immobilisation!! Sounds bizarre. Anyone heard any...

Thanks everyone for the comments. I must admit I didn't think the meg II had a thermostat either but just goes to show. Thought thermostats were a thing of the past. It looks like it could be a combination of thermostat or one of the sensors. The mpg is down on normal too suggesting that it is in 'c...

Running Cold, Temperature Gauge or Something else

Hi, I know it has been cold of late but one of the megs has been feeling it too. The engine temperature gauge is taking much longer than usual to come up to the normal running temp ( about the third indicator). Nothing much wrong there on cold mornings and going slower than normal due to snow etc, b...
