Re: Electric window motors.

I actually have a very good local main dealer - obviously unlike most on here. He has said he is more than happy to fit a motor I get elsewhere be it ebay or a breaker and his rates are very cheap. Point is though, they should not be failing. I was just quoting the renault part prices. I won't be bu...

Electric window motors.

Both my front door electric window motors on my 53 plate were replaced under warranty in 2006 as they had failed. Now, unbelievably they have failed again , now obviously out of warranty. Each motor, should I have to buy them will cost £177 plus VAT plus fitting. That's at least 500 quid to get my w...

Re: Alloys flaking/corroding.

I always hose or jet wash them first. It's not staining - it's the actual paint flaking off .

Alloys flaking/corroding.

Anyone else finding the Megane alloys very poor quality. I've had my 5 year old model from new, and specified the optional 17'' alloys. Despite regularly cleaning them with proper alloy wheel cleaner they are looking awful - large areas have turned a brown colour with no sign of the silver alloy coa...

My car does a regular 25 mile run at 70-80mph so I would hardly call that pottering about - and as I live on an island it's not as if I sit stuck in traffic jams. Part of the reason I got the car was for performance - I think you will find that a 1.6 petrol will give nowhere near the same performanc...

Anyway the whole reason I replied was to register my concern re. turbos as requested at the start of this whole topic - not to get a sermon on what type of car I should have bought !

ps. regarding not making sound economic sense the 2.0 litre petrol model was only £1000 cheaper at the time. I'll have saved around that much in fuel in 3 years with far better performance into the bargain !!

I wouldn't call 10000 miles per year well below average, just slightly below. I don't recall reading in the owners manual that you had to do at least 20k per year or your turbo would blow up !!!

I have a 2003 1.9 dci with 25000 miles on the clock. All seems fine but as warranty runs out in 4 months time I am getting worried. Surely renault will pledge to replace failing turbos and consequential damage in fully serviced cars up to a specified mileage (60000 ?? ) even after warranties run out...
