Re: Whineing noise
No it doesn't whine when stationary, but when I'm driving along and I can hear the whine, if I disengage the engine by pushing in the clutch pedal, the whine continues at exactly the same noise, so it's in the rolling car and not in the engine under power.

Re: Whineing noise
It has been seen by two independant garages, they've checked all the usual, wheel bearings, belt tensions, just checking it wasn't one of those specific to megane problems again!

Whineing noise
For the last 2 years my car has made a whineing noise as I drive it, it did this before but when I had a service it seemed to stop and it slowly came back; so I had another service expecting it to go again and it didn't...it kept whineing! It is a 54 plated megane estate with the 1.5 diesel engine. ...

Blower working intermittently
Sorry but I can't find this topic on the problems section of the forum, but I find bits about it. My internal blower fan (on my Megane Estate 54 plate 1.5 diesel) works only when it wants to. It works for a couple of days, then stops working for the next few. It doesn't matter which setting it is on...

Re: keycard replacement
Just seen the reply to a previous answer I gave; the market trader re-programmed both my new key and my old one, and after well over 2 years both are still working perfectly (unlike other parts of the car!).

Re: Intermittent ac problem
I have a 54 plate megane estate 1.5 diesel; the air-con has been checked by several garages and although it is fully gassed with no leaks, it only works properly every second time it is switched on. If it's not working, I have to stop the car, cut the engine, re-start and drive away... then it will ...

Re: keycard replacement
I had a second keycard brand new from a market stall, encoded and my old one re-done at the same time. It did cost £100, but much cheaper than Renault. After 18 months, both still working perfectly.

Re: exhaust smoke
My 54 plated Megene Estate 1.5 diesel, used to belch smoke when I accelerated quickly from a junction, was completely cured by having the EGR valve cleaned out, engineer showed me the black "cak" that had collected in it, some dry dust caked in and some wet old oil also. Once cleaned in pe...

Re: Megane Cardkey Purchase
Well, I've had so many electrical problems with this car....it would solve a lot! Electric windows and regulators fail regularly, alarm goes off whilst driving along sometimes, EGR valve, just look at the same re-occurring problems on this forum and Renault don't want to know. Last time I will buy a...

Re: Changing head light bulb in pics
Maybe my megane estate (54 plate) is a bit different, but the problem I had was trying to replace the small wire clip that holds the bulb in place. It must have been on the other side, but I could get my hand in to replace the bulb, but could not feel and see at the same time to replace the d*mn wir...

Megane Cardkey Purchase
Like many others, I had broken the spare key and my second key was wearing out so I approached Renault to purchase a new one and after finding out the cost (and picking myself back up off the floor), I decided that I would have to take very good care of the key I was using!!!! Then I found out that...

Re: Drivers rear window stuck open
If the window won't go up 2" at a time when you deadlock (i.e. remove fuse, replace fuse then double press the door lock button on the key fob), then it's the motor you will need to replace. If it goes up a bit at a time, then it's the regulator on its own you need to replace, about £50 on ebay...

Re: Miles per Gallon
The MPG is the only good point about my Renault Megane Estate 1.5 diesel on a 54 plate. I have never had less than 60mpg out of it and at least 750 miles from a 12 gallon tank. I do drive carefully, trying to keep it at 60 mph and cruising. But most of my journaeys are short, school runs and to work...

Re: EGR valve
Independant, actually had to leave the car with them for a whole 3 hours, so guess they were working between a few cars at once. I have now had a good run with the car, economy is exactly the same...still getting 64mpg with a combination of motorways and around town driving (but a light foot). It is...

Re: EGR valve
Gave up trying to see if I could do it myself and took it into the local garage. They took it off, cleaned out half a cup of black soot and oily sticky tar like stuff, then re-assembled it. See if the car stops smoking so heavily now!!!
By the way the local garage charged £69 for an hours work.
