CC Roof Help

Postby Djorn » Wed Apr 10, 2013 1:00 pm

Hi Guys and Gals,

I know this will have been covered off beforehand but I am in a tight spot really.

I have just bought my Wife her very first Car, a Megane CC 2004 with only 33k on the clock for £2000...yeah cheap as chips...I bought it with the knowledge that roof doesn't work (according to the garage i got her from), I managed to silence the beeping by removing the fuse for the roof. When i re-fuse the roof I was able to retract it (in three attempts or stages) with the button. When the roof was retracted the boot didn't auto close and the button just beeps. I have managed to close the boot by applying gentle pressure on the lid...so she looks great...then had to manually raise the roof and lock it back in place.

Now my questions are 1, what woudl or could cause the roof to only half work? 2, Can you put it into some kind of Manual mode
3, can you reset it?

The son of the Garage owner said it was working when they got the car 1 year ago but he believes his father killed the engine while closing the roof one day.

Any Advice would be very welcome. I have read a few forums recently on this but not sure if they relate to a fabric roof as mine is the glass one.

Thanks in advance

Dj.

Good news...there is a microswitch in the top left side of the windscreen that gets stuck if the roof is left up for extended periods...£20 new switch...our £2000 Megane with broken roof is now worth £4-5k ..... might go and drive slowly past the garage that sold it to me :)

This sounds exactly the same fault that I am having. How did you find out that it was that sensor at fault.
Thanks
