correct Engine coolant

Postby damiansaint » Sun Mar 29, 2009 6:08 pm

afternoon everyone

Can anyone advise on the correct engine coolant for my car 1.5 DCI. I only need to top up as it is at min level. The stuff in there is yellow, can I mix colours or does this not make the slight nit of difference. I ask as I have some halfords coolant but it is pink.

Many thanks in advance.

you shouldn't really mix differnt coolant colours, but if you do it not going to turn to sludge or anything, it just won't be as efficient and will shorten the life of the radiator etc.

Top up temporarily with distilled or just Brita-filtered and boiled (to remove dissolved gases) water.

You car is 2003, so the whole volume of coolant needs to be changed anyway... It is 30% cheaper from GSF. You'll need just under 7L.
