Oil Grade for 1.9 dci

Postby lee00069 » Mon Sep 17, 2012 5:00 pm

Hi everyone,

I Have a megane 1.9dci sedan and it is using massive amounts of oil. I have been constantly filling it up with helix 5w40.
My question is... If i switch over to 20w50 will this help reduce oil consumption and, will it harm my turbo in any way.

Thanks in advance....

Something is in the process of failing in your engine. It might happen this week...

Why don't you investigate and repair the root problem? Check the crankcase ventilation system first. If blocked, it will blow the oil through various seals, in the turbo first of all. Dave described this fault some time ago.
