Please any advice would be much appreciated.
I have owned my megane for 2 weeks. It a 1.6 vvt on a 2003 plate.
Steering locked sign on dash, changes to steering unlocked to but steering permanently locked. Car is recognising key as wen i put in says to put foot on brake and press start. But car doesnt start no power at all.
The key is now failing to lock all doors. Couldnt get lights to turn off eithervso now battery is dead.
Had green flag tow me home on a flat bed, due to no steering.
I dont know what to do, anyoe have any idea at all what ould be wrong.
Car has been fine prior to this. It has 83k on clock with a fsh.
Im so sad right now, car sitting on street unlocked and unable to start.
If any help it was pouring with rain when this poblem occured. In london its doe nothing but rain over last week.

Second hand locks are programmed to the cars you take them from. You will be wasting your money by buying second hand.
It's basically an expensive paperweight.

Check to see if you're red cover is on the positive terminal on your battery . I read that there is a fuse on that terminal that can corrode and mess up the steering lock mechanism, don't quote me on it , but worth a try, new fuse only about £2.

Hi, thanks for your replys.
My car stopped working due to issues with steering lock being displayed, key wasnt being recognised and wouldnt unlock steering lock, or open an close doors(central lock). I had to leave car with lights on so inturn battery drained flat.
Found my spare key, and it works a treat. Got a bump startvand now all is good.
Fingers crossed it remains.
Cheers guys
