Over the last 7 months the reception on my radio was perfect on all local channels
Over the time it has been getting worse and worse to the point where I cannot hear any stations and will end up searching as the reception is that bad
My expertise have involved checking the aerial on the roof which seems to be all fine and pulling the head unit out to make sure its still atached in the back of the unit, which it is. Has anyone had this problem and know how I can fix it.
I have the tape player so I do rely on the radio mostly when m,y Itrip is not on
Its a 2003 Megane 1.5 Authentique. Any help please. Dont want to take it to renault as I am sure you all understand
Thanks

Re: Radio reception getting worse
you've probably had water in the base of the aerial causing corrosion = poor contact with the aerial.

Re: Radio reception getting worse
Can anyone advise on where the aerial travels from the roof to the back of the unit and how to get into it. The reception is so bad now nothing tunes in.

Re: Radio reception getting worse
From what i remember the cable goes for the right side of the car and until it reaches the roof on the back. If i remember right the radio doesnt use an external antenna for FM frequencies, its only used for MW radios, i dont know if any one can confirm this info..

Re: Radio reception getting worse
Not sure about that. I would assume the external antenna on the roof is for FM frequencies. However it would be good to know?
is it easy to get to, is there a way to do it i.e front to back or vice versa.
is it worth replacing the head unit?
Just need to get to the bottom of why the radio reception is has got so bad progressivley month by month that I cant even have it on now?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Re: Radio reception getting worse
if its water you have to take the inside roof top cover out. wash your hands to try to let it as clean as possible. the aerial should be visible after that..
