Re: 1.6 revs up by itself and then stalls
Does it always rev itself up or is the problem intermittent ? if it is constantly doing it check this sensor i have circled in the photo (take the engine cover off to get to it ), It somehow was loose on my megane and it also revved itself up to about 3500-4000RPM , Turned it back in and then it was...

Re: Alarm going off, been sat for 12 months
i dont think it can be a problem with the battery if its producing 12 Volts.
Maybe try put the key in the ignition and start the car while the alarm is going off?
might go away... unless your key card has stopped working. Also check the battery in the key.
hope that helps!

Re: Alarm going off, been sat for 12 months
i dont think there is any issue if u leave the battery out for a long time.
I bought a megane that had been standing with no battery for about 8 months and all was fine .
Put in a new battery and it started up with no issues

Re: knocking noise
I dont think you should drive it like that ,
Sounds to me like maybe the oil pump failing or a broken valve spring
if its the oil pump and you run it , it could damage bearings, crankshaft and conrods which is a very expensive fix.

Re: Rear Brake noise.
The noise is coming from the rear calipers.
Normally the pre 2005 meganes do the noise when braking while reversing and the meganes built during or after 2005 do not...

Re: open or close roof without starting the car
well you need to put the card key in the card reader,
Push the start/stop button without pressing in the clutch or brake.
The ignition should now be on and you can open /close roof or use the radio .
to switch it off , remove the key and press the start/stop button.

Re: Noise at idle (increases with revs)
Yes it is also known as an auxillary belt .
Well all the meganes i have seen have air con so it wont make a difference.
The tensioner is in a bit of a tight position to access but its manageable.

Re: Engine will not start when Clutch depressed????
lee00069's question makes me think that many of the inhabitants of this forum know surprisingly little about the gearbox they are using daily. There are many gears in the box, which are permanently meshed and "chewing" oil, even in neutral. Dog clutches and friction cones are used to lock...

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...
the accessory belt it is also known as serpentine or fan belt.
With regard to the gears i am honestly not sure, But maybe take it for a drive and see what it does.

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...
well i have never heard of a turbo making any whining sound if it was alternator bearing it is fixable. Your list seems quite comprehensive so i doubt you missed anything. since you used the hand pump it is probably not a problem with fuel supply. Maybe you can take off the accessory belt. Start it ...

Re: Turbo, turbo, turbo...
Strange that the turbo would make that sound . I agree maybe something has partially seized. could be something simple like the altenator bearing..... Did you clean out the intercooler? they tend to get full of oil when the turbo gets damaged. And with regard to starting problem heres a suggestion T...
