Re: Maximum Mileage - Cam Belt Part 2?

I doubt I'll get another Renault until a few reliability and design features are re-designed back out. I love them to drive (as I did the Clio before), but dislike the overall maintenance experience of it which is "frustrating" to say the least. I opted for a Corsa (paid for it today, get ...

Re: Maximum Mileage - Cam Belt Part 2?

Hi all, I thought I would reply to my own post  just in case there are any high-milers out there. My 1.6VVTi sailed through its MOT a couple weeks ago, and was due to go in for its cam-belt and dephaser pulley change next week, but alas, it isn't to be :cry . Now at 145,500 the gearbox diff...

Maximum Mileage - Cam Belt Part 2?

Hi all, I have a general question regarding mileage of my 2004 Megane, 1.6VVTi, unleaded. As it stands, it's now on 143000, I service it each year but I know it's coming up close to a cam-belt change (last done at 75000). I don't know whether to pay the cam-belt cost (probably around the £500 mark i...

Re: 1.6 16V PRIVELEDGE AIR BAG LIGHT AND STEERING NOT LOCKED

Ayup,

Have you checked your battery? I'm non-technical at this sort of thing but when I was having car-starting problems, this did come up on my dash after I tried to start the car several times, I'm guessing I was eventually wearing the battery down.

Good luck, :pc

Re: 1.6 vvt poor fuel consumption

Hi again, Just to add to yesterday; have you done the maths to see if the computer is reading correctly as it could be giving erroneous data. I normally get 490-520 miles to a full tank so I'm certain my MPG readings are there or thereabouts. Fag packet maths suggest you're getting somewhere in the ...

Re: Starter motor cost?

Cheers for the replies folks  I wish I re-checked this thread yesterday evening and gone down the reconditioned route, however the car wouldn't start this morning and so it's had to go into a non-Renault dealer. Cost is £140 parts & labour, the job being quoted as taking one hour ( I guess...

Re: 3 beeps when starting car

The 3 beeps sounds similar to when you leave your keys in the ignition and get out of the vehicle, it senses a door is open and the keys are still in the ignition. All seems to be pointing at a sensor that is either damaged or not in correct position and the computer not knowing any better. Good luck.

Starter motor cost?

Hi all, Been having a few issues with the car, namely, starting the thing! Had to call the AA out at the weekend to get moving and inspection of the battery and charging currents suggest they are working fine which leaves the starter motor as the most likely problem. So I don't cry in front of the b...

Re: 1.6 vvt poor fuel consumption

Ayup, I've got a 2004 1.6vvt and I usually get around 42mpg for my daily commute to work, 45mpg if I drive like my gran, and around 36mpg if I drive like a nutter. The journey is 25 miles, some urban, some rural, some stop starting, some coasting. This is all with a boot full of crap that I can't be...

Camshaft dephaser circuit

Hi all, Car is 2004 Megane, 65000 miles, 1.6i. My ECU has thrown up a DF119/DF080 Camshaft Dephaser Circuit error last week, I've since had the ECU reset and reprogrammed but the problem keeps re-occurring after driving for 20 minutes or so. I'm well aware of the dreaded Dephaser problem and just ov...

Are Renault on the con?

Ok, slightly strongly worded but here's my story of the last 24 hours. Prequel - about 12 months ago I got the Toxic Warning Light pop up on my dashboard, no fault was foundby Renault and the fault was cleared for a small sum. Yesterday - Driving to work, the Toxic Warning Light popped up on my dash...

Re: How To: Initialise windows after disconnecting the battery

I just discovered that the traditional advice regarding window initialisation is significantly different from the manual. According to the manual the following steps must be performed after re-connecting the battery: 1. Lift the window. It will move in small steps. 2. Once it is fully closed, lift ...

Seems to be fairly common and simple to fix, just a switch/cable fault.

Re: Airbag Light On - MOT Failure????

Hi Mark,

According to https://www.motester.co.uk/mot-qanda2.html Airbags are not part of the MOT Test. I've seen this on two websites now so hopefully will be the case for you.

Good luck
