Re: 1.5dci, poor cold starting, error messages, CLOUDS OF SM

Good to see you have sorted it Mike! Im still on the same trail as you at the moment. I deleted the fault codes and all was well and good for a few days, perfect first attempt starting in the morning etc... then BEEP "injection fault" and SERVICE light appeared again. As you say, back to t...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting error message on display*SOL

Liam, Are you saying the steering locked itself while you were still driving? Why are you still driving a car with a fault? Resetting the fault codes is not a solution to any problem. That is exactly what I'm saying! I am not driving this car again, It happened on my way back to where I liv...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting error message on display*SOL

Ok right, a small update... I took Mikes advice, and got a scanner on it, a snap-on one which Im guessing is the same as he used. It bought up a few fault codes... one was, GLOW RELAY CIRCUIT (no relay fitted) Cruise control (not even got cruise control on my car :x ) MAIN RELAY LOW VOLTAGE and a fe...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting error message on display*SOL

Ok excellent, I will take a look at the fuelling then... As I said before.. My fuel line is always drained when I come to it, so there is either a leak at the filter, at the priming bulb, or the NRV to the tank has gone.. but I'm unsure where the NRV is to check/replace it. Any ideas? Thanks for all...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting, error message on display

Hi Alex, How would I got about getting the live data plots from the engine? Ive tried all sorts of OBD2 scanners and nothing is happening at all... I have the exact same problem but if you take a look at my video, there it shows how my car reacts with the glow plug relay connected, but when its disc...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting, error message on display

Hi Mike, Well I only uploaded that clip last night so you couldnt have seen mine, maybe another one on someone elses channel with the same fault. Well, the thing is if there is a CONSTANT voltage to the glow plugs (with ignition off) then the glow plug relay module is a the offending item. Ive searc...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting, error message on display

Well, luckily Ive been put in touch with someone who has the tools and ability to remove the broken plug without the removal of the head ;) but at a cost of £125! Well the thing is, I dont have a multi-meter here with me on camp (RAF Coningsby, so not TOO far at all) and its quite hard trying to tes...

Re: 1.5 DCI, poor cold starting, error message on display

Hi there, Im also an owner of a 1.5 DCI which blows huge plumes of white smoke out the exhaust and takes about 10 presses of the start button before the damned thing starts. All is perfect when up and running. One huge problem I have is that when I purchased the car it had a snapped glowplug in the ...

Re: Megane 1.5 DCi Struggles to cold start.

Hi alex, What your saying seems correct. Tomorrow im rigging up my own pre-heating system with a 100amp relay and moment switch in the dash to determine if it is indeed the relay, ecu or some kind of sensor that is causing the cold start problems. The air in the fuel line has now gone! YIPPEEEE! I h...

Re: Megane II 1.5dci starting problems

Hi Treddy,

Are you using a genuine RENAULT filter?

Aftermarket ones dont seem to have an airtight seal and allow air back in...

Maybe your pipes have a hole in, or your non return valve is stuck open.

Re: Megane II 1.5dci starting problems

Check your glow plugs buddy, and also check your fuel line for air bubbles.

The fuel line you need to check is the one from the hand priming bulb to the fuel filter.

Re: Diesel Filter replacement

Are you sure your not looking at your Air Con unit?

Not sure if you are aware, many aftermarket fuel filters tend to leak at the pipe connections causing air in the fuel line. This is quite a common thing and can be solved by using a genuine renault filter.
