Re: Megane 1.5 DCi Struggles to cold start.

not an electronic guru so apologies - but stop injection......appears on mine under sudden acceleration - then goes after a few seconds without power loss or any other symptom - worried me for the first 20,000 miles (point being no driving impact)- however i can see air in the clear supply pipe near...

Re: getting greedy ? 70mpg but do i have a problem?

Sorted ! EGR valve full of very dry/ dusty soot. The soot stops the valve moving freely, the valve lets a controlled amount of exhaust back into the fresh air inlet, so if stuck open with soot, at l/ low revs the engine is trying to burn fuel using exhaust and not fresh air = smoking/ loss of power ...

getting greedy ? 70mpg but do i have a problem?

2003 1.5dci, averaging 65 ish mpg including steep welsh hill passes 100 miles a day round trip so cannot complain ! not using oil or water, but.....seem to have lost my diesel knock at low revs - the `punch` has gone from low revs acceleration. over 2k picks up ok, but below 2 k gutless. and no dies...

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption

reply to sharna 86 - I have noted my fuel gauge to `lurch` from quarter full to nearly empty as if the gaugue had stuck - range also dropped so maybe that is the answer ? Best is really a full to full run - even over a few tankfulls. readings over shorter distances can be misleading.....

Re: Stickies for fuel consumption

mine is a 1.5dci 2003 (86hp?) manual. I do a 110 mile round trip on fast, low traffic country lanes -not even dual carriageways- and average 66 mph. some is at 75mph - some at 45mph, but no stationery traffic or stuck in queues. 55 miles in 1 hour 15 minutes is typical journey time...an hour on a lu...

Yes and noted thanks However - I have this morning removed the suspension arm rear bush bollt, greased the shaft lightly, introduced a packing washer on top of the bush/ under the chassis arm to make absolutely sure of n...

Re: creaking front suspension

update - creaking like a goodun front drivers side, despite new spring, bottom arm, top bearing and bottom ball joint.....went into a tyre bay and had a look from underneath - it does seem to be the (new) rear bush somehow creaking in the chassis- where the bolt passes through. Dont understand as it...

Re: bypassing the aircon unit / same tensioner or not?

hmmm, thanks davelowe, noted, but also retaining (possibly naively) a sense of proportion. Possibly uncharted territory as you say but not earthbreaking maybe - having just fitted a bmw TDS into a jaguar, and slaving the bmw engine loom into the jaguar loom, and a ford tdi into a landrover, which wa...

bypassing the aircon unit / same tensioner or not?

I need to bypass the aircon on my 2003 1.5 dci due to bearing noise coming from the aircon compressor - do I use the same aircon belt tensioner or do I need a different tensioner ?

which parts to dispense with aircon ?(bearing noise)

Hi, megane 2 dci 1.5- (averaging 67mpg on 110 mile round trip over the welsh mountains without a dual carriageway in sight!) My megane `drums` at 2K revs (sort of doplar effect for those in the know!)- has been doing it for 15K miles. I suspect the aircon bearings are worn, and or drive belt tension...
